Alchemy vs. Transmutation

I used to be deeply fascinated with the idea of alchemy - turning lead into gold.

However, in my journies I've come to understand that the quest for gold usually leads one into a tangled web of negative energy (greed, primarily) and in my life, I've made the conscious decision to move away from negativity, not toward it.

In that regard, gold, or wealth, or $$$$, is no longer my goal. Instead, I'm on a quest for WELLTH.... a balanced equation of living my passion, leading a healthy lifestyle, earning enough to be comfortable, and using my talents, skills and passion to raise the quality of life for as many people as possible.

I find that many other people are making this conscious move toward Wellth as well, and it is empowering to know that others, increasingly, hold similar values.

In the past year, I have delved into the realm of crystals, researching the properties of different minerals, understanding their relation to the chakras, and I began hunting specimens for my collection.

Black Tourmaline and Quartz

I am, among other things, a professional musician and it's no secret that music is fundamentally vibration, as is color. What I didn't know, and began to learn, is that EVERYTHING is vibration, and that .... unbeknownst to most people .... we each have the ability to change our vibration at will.

I learned the incredible transmuting power of black stones. One of the uses of black tourmaline, for instance, is to capture the negative and harmful EMF energy from cellphone towers and wireless networks and transmute it into positive energy (especially when combined with quartz points). It is said that just by TOUCHING black tourmaline, you can increase your luck! Shungite is used, among other things, to transmute dirty air and water into clean, whole, living air and water. Natural charcoal (although not a stone) is also used to purify air and water. These materials are fundamental healing tools for our world, and are not widely known.

How powerful is this concept.... that instead of wallowing in negative energy like an animal trapped in a cage, we can literally transmute that negative into positive energy! It's only education that lies between us and a better world. Whether you decide to use crystals, yoga, the power of your mind, music or the arts, food, or any number of other paths, we each have the ability to create a perfectly positive, happy, healthy and wellthy life. Learn to recognize causes of stress, and one by one, eliminate them from your life. Choose with care what you surround yourself with! The Evolution of Ideas

I recently read a book called Zero: The Biography of a Dangerous Idea, where the author takes us on a tumultuous journey through the evolution of Zero, from ancient times all the way to the present.  It reads as almost a murder mystery, with tales of theft, murder, deceit and riches... quite unbelievable for a concept that seems so simple in our modern world! The truth is, the discovery of Zero changed our world in unimaginable ways. Mathematicians and scientists who understood the power of it were ruthless in their desire to own the concept, and to have their name associated with it.

Equally ruthless was the Catholic Church, which sought to suppress the existence of it, and the Islamic faith which interpreted zero as the existence of God (it's the reason that Muslims are not allowed to personify God). 

The book planted the seed for a question that continues to grow as I engage in more and more collaborations:

 
What does it mean to "OWN" and idea?

This is a hot topic. Patents and trademarks and copyrights have shot through the roof in recent years, with corporations snapping up the rights to words, concepts, seeds, and even DNA in a mad dash of ownership greed. But this concept of ownership is also in play in the world at large. 

Take, for instance, the music world, where the concept of ownership has been a hotbed of discussion for many years. Sampling is a major tool of music composition... you can sample anyone's music, under 3 seconds, no matter how recognizable, and not have to pay for it or credit the composer. Jazz musicians quote each other in their solos all the time. Styles are emulated, music is downloaded for free and shared, and almost always, the artist/composer/producer is not properly renumerated for their creative work. Is that a fair way to do business? One of the reasons I walked out on the music business because it became so difficult to make any kind of living unless you literally pimped yourself, so a new model is desperately needed (but as yet I haven't invented it)!

In the business world, perhaps it's a cliche idea that ideas are "stolen" and repurposed, and yet it's a very important conversation. People are very careful to trademark and copyright their books and ideas (in general), and yet you just can't patent everything. Sometimes a great idea comes along that slips into the mainstream before anyone can lay claim to it. Who owns it then? At what point does a word or idea become "common knowledge"? What do we owe those people who introduce us to the idea or word, before it becomes common knowledge? 

I can't answer all these questions. I do believe that there are some powerful words and concepts that, if given widespread distribution, can empower humanity, and therefore to restrict those words/concepts is to restrict our very evolution. But I also think that credit needs to be given where it is due. If you read a book, or a blog, or watch a movie and are struck by an idea that would add great meaning to your work, it's respectful to open up a conversation with the person who introduced you to the idea; find out the relationship of the person to the word/concept before you turn it into your own. Ask permission to adopt it, if that person exists in your sphere of influence.

The evolution of ideas is IMPERATIVE to our survival; and indeed it may take many generations of people grappling with concepts in order to achieve brilliant answers, as it did with Zero. Some people may be a better megaphone for an idea than others. But, instead of creating competition and lack (very old paradigm!), let's collaborate and let go of the stumbling blocks that prevent us from progressing into our brilliant future. 

Instead of OWNING ideas, let's ASSOCIATE with ideas.... the more people who associate and add their flavor to an idea, the more powerful it becomes. If you've got a particularly wonderful idea, then by working together to promote that idea we have the ability to achieve Critical Mass (the most resilient energy of our times). 

We need powerful, innovative ideas more than ever! The collaborative evolution of ideas is #NewParadigm; it's what will bring us the answers we need to survive the crisis we're currently facing.

2012 has been a tumultuous year in so many different ways. I perceive it as a much-needed cleansing process, to purge all that is sick... and so as a society, and that process means that we've been subjected to the worse of the worst; the worst greed, power, death and destruction. 

While this purging has been taking place,  I have connected with people around the world who are doing incredible work, people who refuse to let the greed and power define their lives; people who see BEYOND the negativity into what humanity is capable at the opposite end of the spectrum.  One example is +Lynn Serafinn who teaches us how to redefine how we sell and market to be an act of HEALING, instead of greed. Her lessons have inspired a whole new generation of social entrepreneurs who add tremendous value to our world.

My singular goal for 2013 is to empower as many people as possible to earn an exceptional income using their skills, experience, ideas and passion in life, and in doing so, grow a nurturing community that empowers, enriches, and embodies all that is good about humanity. Although money is not the be all-end all of our purpose, it allows us to be healthy and do our work, so our purpose here is not to engorge ourselves on wealth, but to create a communal source of "wellth."

The Beginning is Near!

The Mayan Calendar ends on 12-21-12

There is a massive spiritual awakening happening in this trajectory toward the Mayan prophecy of the "End of the World" on December 21st. The people in my circles do not consider it to be an ending, but a new beginning - a time of extraordinary opportunity, as we choose to live our lives by replacing fear with love and gratitude. By living life this way, we're able to create businesses from our passions and live fully, adding value to the world around us. By living this way, we eliminate scarcity, fear, greed, jealousy and all negative emotions... replacing that empty space with the inverse - contentedness, love, gratitude, and generosity.

By living with in the positive realm, the quality of our lives is drastically increased, as is the world around us. Our health improves, our concentration improves, our relationships improve, and new opportunities begin to appear. We become well-tuned with our passions, and with our place in the universe. We are not phased when life puts hurdles in our way, but see those hurdles as opportunities for growth. We begin to collect amazing people in our life and a vibrant energy forms that begins to propel our actions and ideas toward a magnificent fruition... we are in sync; choosing joy in the face of adversity.

Everything is energy, and according to the First Law of Thermodynamics, energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed. Whether we live in the positive or negative, that is our choice. I am a living example of someone who transformed a severely negative life into a fantastically positive life, and so it can be done. It is not necessarily an easy feat, but nothing worth doing, is! Nothing in life is free; but the reward for making this change is greater than can be imagined.

Using all my life's experience, I envisioned and created a simple method for people to make a great income from their ideas, vision, talents, and passion, called IDEABASH.  I know for certain that it will become a vital tool of success as our world sinks deeper into this economic meltdown, and our ideas are more needed than ever. I encourage new ideas; I encourage people to create value for the world around them; I encourage personal wellth; I encourage community building.

This is my contribution to the New World that is about to begin. Let's make this fascinating time unforgettable and supremely relevant by pledging to live our purpose!
